Officially, demos are primarily an audition tool between publishing companies and record labels, to showcase artists, songs, or songwriters. Unofficially, the term “demo” has become synonymous with recording on a smaller scale/budget than a “normal” record project.

A vocal demo with a guitar or piano can range between $75-350. A quick full band demo can range (very roughly - depending on the instrumentation) between $750 and $3500 and more.
